Homework 3

CLARIFICATION: The "hand out" Mark is referring to is the packet of drawings of his own that I handed out to you on the first day of class. I do not have them scanned in to post online. Some of you may be lacking this packet - Please, if you have one, bring it to class this coming week so that I can make more copies for those who need it. Thank you.

Class, you have been assigned:

6 copies from the hand-out pages of figurative drawings we gave them last week. More than one figure per page is suggested
for practice.
Four of the pages will be on newsprint, using charcoal pencil, sharpened to a cone with 3/4" long charcoal exposed, 4b or 6b
Two of the pages will be on pottery green charcoal paper using sharpened white prismacolor pencil on
one of the two as the one copy shows and white nu-pastel on the other, as it shows.

The principles of drawing being taught that must be observed and reflected in the drawings are;
1) articulation
2) breaking into the line
3) pulling the line with the charcoal as if it were an exacto knife, cutting
4)Moving from "pulled line" on the outside of the form, to an interior wash.
5) Interior within the anatomy, rhythmical washes, both of black and of white.

Once again, any questions please feel free to email me at jason.hsin@gmail.com.
